IPRs Cancel 17 Claims
On February 19, 2016, the USPTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board entered a favorable ruling cancelling 17 claims in a patent that Brooks Kushman challenged on behalf of its client Ford Motor Company. Brooks Kushman filed a petition for inter partes review of a patent owned by Signal IP, Inc., a NPE, directed to hybrid engine control technology. After the PTAB instituted review, all claims were cancelled by the PTAB after Signal IP filed a request for reexamination of the claims in another proceeding.
