Brooks Kushman Attorneys Dustin Zak and Francesca Cusumano Joining 2024-2025 Michigan Intellectual Property Inn of Court Executive Committee

ROYAL OAK, Michigan – Brooks Kushman is thrilled to announce that attorneys Dustin Zak and Francesca Cusumano have been voted onto the 2024-2025 Executive Committee for the Michigan Intellectual Property (IP) Inn of Court. Dustin will be serving as the Linn Inn Alliance Liaison, and Francesca will serve as the Events Chair. Brooks Kushman has had the privilege of being involved with the Inns of Court for many years, with many of our attorneys serving in leadership roles over the years.

The Michigan Inn of Court is an organization dedicated to promoting excellence in professionalism, ethics, civility, and legal skills within the legal profession. The Michigan Inn serves as an intellectual property-focused chapter of the American Inns of Court. The Michigan Inn meets multiple times throughout the year to fellowship and host informative programs about current issues and developments in trademark, patent, copyright, and trade secret law.

Dustin is a registered patent attorney who focuses his practice on patent litigation and prosecution. Dustin possesses a vast range of technical experience, from chemical and material arts to software applications and artificial intelligence. Dustin has technical knowledge related to cyber security and computer technologies. During his studies, he has immersed himself in many technical topics including C++, Java, and visual basic programming, networking, open-source networking, end-user computing, ethical hacking and offensive security, cyber intelligence, Linux security administration, information security, risk-vulnerability analysis, and digital forensics.

Francesca, a registered patent attorney, specializes in intellectual property litigation, including patent and trademark enforcement. Francesca works in a variety of technology areas including industrial chemicals, material sciences, and automotive systems. Francesca strives to create and implement intellectual property enforcement strategies that align her client’s business needs.  She brings a client-focused approach to her practice, working alongside her clients to understand and support their goals.
