The session, titled “Protecting Your Client’s IP,” will outline the key IP rights and risks you should be mindful of; examine the necessary steps to protect valuable corporate assets on a national and global scale, and how not to infringe on the intellectual property rights of others; explore how to prevent employees and independent contractors from misappropriating and using company confidential information and what remedial steps to take; learn to spot and respond to common issues in advertising, trademarks, licensing, and other areas so that you leave empowered to respond accordingly; and discuss the ins and outs of nondisclosure agreements and ownership provisions in contracts, and receive a few samples to take back to the office.
Lorelli is the Co-Chair of Brooks Kushman’s intellectual property litigation practice. He has been instrumental in building, developing, and growing the team. Throughout his career, Lorelli successfully tried patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright cases in the Federal Courts nationwide. Marc also successfully argued appeals before the Federal Circuit including a leading decision on 101 jurisprudence, Ancora Techs., Inc. v. HTC Americas, Inc., 908 F.3d 1343 (Fed. Cir. 2018). Marc, as lead counsel, also prevailed in several investigations as both Complainant and Respondent in the International Trade Commission. Marc’s current practice includes experience with Post-Grant Proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He counseled clients in over 50 PTAB proceedings, and these proceedings continue to play a major role in his patent litigation strategy.
