Southfield, Mich. – Brooks Kushman is pleased to announce that shareholder Chanille Carswell has been named to the 2020 Class of Leaders in the Law by Michigan Lawyers Weekly.
The Leaders in the Law are recognized and honored for significant accomplishments or achievements in law practice, outstanding contributions to the practice of law in Michigan, leadership in improving the justice system in Michigan, seeking improvements to the legal community and their communities at large, and setting an example for other lawyers.
Chanille’s practice focuses on all aspects of intellectual property litigation relating to trademarks, trade dress, copyrights, and patents. She also represents clients in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the United States Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Chanille is active in the legal community and is particularly dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) both within Brooks Kushman and the greater legal community. As a part of these efforts, she facilitates the firm’s participation in the Wolverine Bar Association’s Summer Clerkship Program, and she was a 2015 Fellow within the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). Chanille is also the Membership Chair for the Michigan Intellectual Property Inn of Court.
Chanille is passionate about giving back to her community and prioritizes civic engagement activities to improve her local community. She is a regular supporter of Alternatives for Girls, a nonprofit organization that serves homeless and at-risk girls and women in her hometown, Detroit.
