SOUTHFIELD, Mich., – Brooks Kushman Shareholder Erin Bowles was recently appointed as the as the Detroit City Lead by the Fellows Alumni of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) as part of their Diversity Program Development Committee.
LCLD is a national organization committed to advancing diversity issues in the legal profession and preparing the future generation of diverse legal professionals for positions of leadership. Bowles is an alum of the 2019 class of LCLD Diversity Fellows, which offers participants virtual and in-person training, peer-group projects, and networking opportunities.
As City Lead, Bowles will be responsible for tailoring programming towards region specific interests and industries, specifically programming that targets Detroit. The City Leads are dedicated to both fostering relationships amongst current LCLD members and growing LCLD participation in the local area. Bowles will also help facilitate access to role models and support for diverse legal professionals in the Detroit community.
Bowles is a registered patent attorney with multiple years of experience counseling domestic and international clients. She counsels organizations from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies on their intellectual property issues including obtaining domestic and foreign patent portfolios, freedom to operate issues, as well as handling post-grant proceedings. Bowles is passionate about introducing girls to opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and works with the Girl Scouts of Southeast Michigan to help them earn their Intellectual Property (IP) Patch.
