Brooks Kushman participates in Detroit growth initiative, welcomes Fellow Shivani Naik
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – For a second year, Brooks Kushman P.C. is participating in the Challenge Detroit initiative and as part of the effort will welcome Fellow, Shivani Naik to its team. Challenge Detroit, in its second year, is an urban revitalization program bringing innovative leaders to the city.
“The Detroit area has been our home for 30 years and we are pleased to be a part of a program that helps bring growth and talent to our community,” said Mark Cantor, president, Brooks Kushman. “As intellectual property attorneys we are committed to supporting innovation and creating a foundation for leadership.”
Naik, a recent graduate of Oakland University, holds a bachelors degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting. She will be working with Brooks Kushman`s accounting and finance departments over the course of the program.
Brooks Kushman is the only law firm involved in the program and one of its shareholders, Frank Angileri, currently serves on Challenge Detroit`s Board of Directors.
“It`s an honor to have the opportunity to be a part of an initiative that works to promote economic growth, improve our community and the Detroit area,” said Angileri. “We were ecstatic when they invited us to be involved with the program last year and we are happy to continue our involvement for the second year.”
Challenge Detroit is designed to attract and retain talent to reinvigorate a great American post-industrial city by providing an opportunity for 33 individuals of various intellects and backgrounds to come together in an effort with area companies, non-profits and cultural institutions.
“As Challenge Detroit embarks on year two of our program, we know our fellows will continue the positive momentum our inaugural fellows have created in the city and region,” said Deirdre Greene Groves, executive director of Challenge Detroit. “We believe these innovative leaders will make a unique mark on Detroit and leave a lasting impact on the future of the region. Our goal is not only to keep these 33 here after the end of the year, but also for them to be ambassadors and advocates for all things Detroit, engaging a wider audience to consider our community as a place they, too, can live, work, play, give and lead.”
In addition to working at Brooks Kushman, Naik will join the Challenge Detroit Fellows and work with non-profits throughout the year to address regional challenges and opportunities, including multi-modal transportation, homelessness and community development.
