Chloe Conway Presented at the June Network Meeting for the Fashion Law Network

ROYAL OAK, MichiganBrooks Kushman attorney Chloe Conway presented at the June Network Meeting for Fashion Law Network on June 20th.

Conway’s presentation titled, “Bridal Fashion Brand Battle; JLM Couture, Inc. v. Hayley Paige Gutman,” provided valuable insights into trademark and social media issues commonly involved in agreements that deal with a designer’s name as a fashion brand, using the Haley Paige and JLM Couture case as a comprehensive example. The presentation concluded with best practices for designers, fashion companies, and for IP practitioners. The Fashion Law Network was created to share cases and updates in Fashion Law around the globe. The network is comprised of IP professional from several countries who have an interest in keeping abreast of current happenings in the fashion law arena. The Network hosts a series of online discussions with presentations by Network participants to build knowledge and create opportunities for collaboration.

Chloe’s practice focuses on trademark and copyright clearance, prosecution, and enforcement. She works with clients in a variety of industries, including technology, entertainment, consumer products, sports, and hospitality. She regularly performs trademark clearance searches and prepares trademark applications, drafting identifications of goods and services and responding to office actions. She also prepares cease and desist letters and files opposition proceedings for enforcement of existing trademark rights. Chloe is also a team member of the firm’s due diligence practice and focuses on preparing trademark-related agreements, such as licensing agreements, confidentiality, non-disclosure, and settlement agreements.
