SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – DECA, an organization that works to improve education and career opportunities for students interested in careers in marketing, management and entrepreneurship, is hosting the Central Region Leadership Conference in Detroit on November 16-18, 2018. Brooks Kushman attorney Jennifer Ziegler will be presenting on trademarks and counterfeit goods at one of DECA’s Marketing, Management, Entrepreneurship and Career Focused workshops. She is doing so as a part of her involvement with the Unreal Campaign, an International Trademark Association (INTA) committee which educates teens about trademarks and counterfeit goods. The Central Region Leadership Conference is designed to excite and introduce DECA members to new ideas, trends, business professionals, colleges, and other DECA members from throughout the Midwest.
With nearly 20 years of combined experience as in-house and outside counsel practicing in the areas of trademark and copyright law, Ziegler’s practice focuses on global brand protection, trademark and copyright enforcement, anti-counterfeiting, and trademark portfolio management. She also works with her clients on issues involving anti-counterfeiting, copyright, domain name recovery, IP due diligence, licensing, trade dress, and unfair competition. Ziegler has extensive experience working with clients of all sizes in a variety of industries, including automotive, consumer products, entertainment, bio-tech and life sciences, and financial services.
Ziegler also serves as a volunteer mediator for The Dispute Resolution Center, a community mediation center serving Washtenaw and Livingston counties, where she has mediated over 50 legal disputes. Her training and experience as a mediator has given her particular expertise in conflict resolution.
