John Nemazi Featured in Crain’s Detroit Business

Southfield, Mich. – Brooks Kushman Shareholder John Nemazi was featured in Crain’s Detroit Business’ June 25, 2017 article, “Gateway ’17 shows path to China’s potential.”

The article focuses on how opportunistic the Chinese market can be for small businesses in the United States, especially those that create quality products in the food, cosmetics, and baby products industries, and comments on the possible roadblocks companies can face. Nemazi explains how counterfeiting is a potential risk for US companies looking to expand their business abroad, but maybe one worth taking considering the market opportunities in China.

“There are issues with counterfeiting on everywhere, even Ebay,” Nemazi said. “It’s hard to police those things, but I don’t think it’s any more risky doing business in China than it is here. You’ve got to protect your intellectual property to get maximum value … but the market opportunity in China is just too big to ignore.”

Nemzai is Co-Chair of Patent Prosecution at Brooksk Kushman, and has over 30 years of experience.
