SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Brooks Kushman shareholders Thomas Lewry and Christopher Smith are speaking at two panels hosted by the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) in Irvine, CA and Los Angeles, CA. Both panels are called hACCess: Essential Developments in Patents and Licensing. During the panels, Lewry and Smith will discuss the challenges IP assets face to stay on top of trends in the rapidly changing legal landscape. They will focus on the evolving nature of IPRs, and how to leverage patent portfolios though licensing without excess risk.
Lewry has more than 30 years of intellectual property litigation experience and focuses his practice on intellectual property matters such as general business conflicts, including breach of contract, fraud, tortious interference, trade secret misappropriation, breach of fiduciary duty, and shareholder derivative matters. He also has extensive litigation experience in a variety of technology areas and tried cases relating to patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyrights in state and federal courts throughout the country.
Smith concentrates his practice on intellectual property litigation, with a primary emphasis on patent litigation. In addition to litigation, Smith is involved with the preparation of invalidity and infringement opinions and licensing disputes. He is experienced in a wide range of technologies including: (1) automotive, including infotainment; (2) medical devices; (3) internet, including content deliver networks; and (4) telecommunications, including fiber optics. He was also recently elected Vice Chair of the Intellectual Owner Association (IPO) IP Licensing Committee.
