Southfield, Mich. – Brooks Kushman is pleased to announce Tiffany Fidler, Ph.D. has been named among Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s “Women in the Law.” This award recognizes 30 women in Michigan’s legal community for their commitment to excellence in the practice of law, leadership in the profession, mentoring and dedication to volunteerism and pro bono activities.
Michigan Lawyers Weekly will recognize the 2019 Women in the Law at an awards luncheon on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at the Detroit Marriott in Troy, Michigan. The winner of the publication’s “Woman of the Year” award will also be announced at the luncheon.
“Tiffany is a dynamic leader within our firm and the legal community,” said Sangeeta Shah, Brooks Kushman CEO and a 2012 Michigan Lawyers Weekly “Woman in the Law.” “She brings a unique perspective in her role as the youngest chair of a practice at Brooks Kushman, and we are thrilled to see her recognized as a ‘Woman in the Law.’”
Fidler’s practice centers on procuring domestic and foreign patents in mechanical and electromechanical matters, coordinating international patent portfolios, and counseling clients on patentability investigations, infringement and right-to-use analysis, and intellectual property transactions and licensing agreements. She is the co-chair of the firm’s patent prosecution group, and has experience representing clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to start-ups.
Fidler received her doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan with a focus in the thermal fluid sciences and an interdisciplinary thesis in combustion and materials science. Her interdisciplinary background, as well as her experiences and successes in the scientific and academic communities, enable her to build relationships and connect with inventors to understand and protect advanced and emerging technologies.
Fidler was recognized due to her commitment to promoting women in STEM and in law, as well as her dedication to mentorship and education. Fidler currently teaches as adjunct faculty at the University of Michigan, is actively involved in STEM education outreach activities, and is involved with local entrepreneurship and start-up organizations. Fidler also takes an active leadership role within the American Intellectual Property Law Association as an Executive Committee Member for the Women in IP Law Committee and chair of the Presence and Branding Sub-Committee.
