Juristat based its analysis of over 7 million patent applications filed or disposed between July 2014 and July 2015 using a weighted average of four criteria including total number of applications filed, allowance rate, average number of office actions to allowance, and average time to allowance. Only firms that filed at least 200 applications in that time were included in the analysis.
