Amy's practice encompasses a broad range of intellectual property matters focused on enforcing intellectual property rights inside and outside of the courtroom.
Amy works with clients to develop and implement IP enforcement strategies, online and offline, to fit their needs. These strategies could be as simple as sending cease and desist letters or reporting infringing activity to online marketplaces, Internet Service Providers, and payment processors. When clients need a larger scale approach, she works with them to set up streamlined technical solutions incorporating artificial intelligence and automated procedures.
Amy also has experience with Trademark Trial and Appeal Board matters, clearance searches and opinions, and prosecuting trademark applications.
On the criminal enforcement side of her practice, she has developed a network of contacts and works closely with federal agencies and law enforcement groups to develop cases against criminal offenders. She has also set up programs to strategically register IP with US Customs and Customs offices around the world to stop counterfeit goods from crossing international borders.
Throughout her career, she has successfully tried patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright cases in Federal Courts nationwide, as well as administrative proceedings before the International Trade Commission. Her litigation practice focuses primarily on the discovery and eDiscovery aspects of IP litigation.
Prior to joining Brooks Kushman, Amy worked in the intellectual property department of a major automotive company, where she learned first-hand about client expectations. This in-house legal experience enables Amy to anticipate internal corporate issues and look at issues from the in-house attorney’s and corporate employee’s perspective.
